French Polynesia 2027: The Ultimate LGBTQ Women's Group Trip to Tahiti & Moorea

LGBTQ women enjoying an overwater bungalow on the turquoise lagoon in Moorea, French Polynesia with Ladies Touch Travel

Picture this: You're floating in a glass-bottomed overwater bungalow in Moorea, the turquoise lagoon directly beneath your feet, surrounded by queer women from across the globe who started the week as strangers and are now making plans for next year. The catamaran cruise last night. The lagoon sharks you swam with this morning. The Polynesian dinner show still pulsing in your memory. All of it happening in one of the most breathtaking places on earth.

This is French Polynesia with Ladies Touch Travel.

Why French Polynesia Should Be on Every LGBTQ Woman's Bucket List

French Polynesia doesn't just offer a beautiful destination. It offers a total reset.

The islands of Tahiti and Moorea move at a pace that strips away everything urgent and replaces it with something rare: the feeling of being completely present. The lagoons are implausibly blue. The mountains are dramatic and lush. The people are warm in a way that feels genuine, not performative. And when you experience all of it alongside a curated community of LGBTQ women? Something shifts.

We've already brought couples here and watched the magic happen in real time, overwater bungalows, lagoon cruises, a surprise proposal on the beach in Moorea. Now we're opening the doors wider.

Because paradise this good shouldn't have a guest list requirement.

Our French Polynesian Islands Group Trip (May 30 – June 6, 2027) is built for solo travelers, friend groups, besties, and couples alike. If French Polynesia has been sitting on your bucket list waiting for the right moment or the right person, this is both.

French Polynesia 2027: What LGBTQ Women Need to Know

The LGBTQ Landscape

French Polynesia occupies a unique position in the world. As a French overseas collectivity, it operates under French law, and France has a long history of LGBTQ legal protections, with homosexuality decriminalized in 1791 and civil union rights established in 1999. LGBTQ relationships are legal and protected here.

That said, French Polynesia is a deeply traditional Polynesian society at its core. Public LGBTQ culture isn't as visible as it is in Puerto Vallarta or Sydney, and discretion in more conservative areas comes naturally. What you will find is a destination where the hospitality industry is genuinely welcoming, where harassment is rare, and where the overall vibe is warm and unhurried.

One thing worth knowing: French Polynesia has its own longstanding gender tradition, the Māhū, a third gender recognized and respected in traditional Polynesian culture. The Māhū hold significant roles in Polynesian society, a reminder that gender fluidity isn't new here. It's woven into the fabric of these islands.

Traveling with Ladies Touch means you have a built-in LGBTQ community around you from the moment you land, which makes the entire experience feel both safe and celebratory throughout.

Why Tahiti and Moorea

These two islands sit about 17 kilometers apart, connected by ferry, and they offer two completely different experiences that complement each other perfectly.

Tahiti is the main island, vibrant, volcanic, culturally rich. It's your entry point to French Polynesia and home to the capital Papeete, dramatic waterfalls, black-sand beaches, and the blowhole at Arahoho that has to be seen to be believed.

Moorea is where bucket lists live. The lagoon is one of the most photographed in the world. Overwater bungalows extend directly out over water so clear you can watch the fish from your room. The snorkeling puts you face to face with sharks and manta rays. And the pace drops several notches below even laid-back Tahiti.

Together, they give you culture, adventure, and pure immersive beauty across eight days that will feel both too short and exactly right.

Your Ladies Touch French Polynesia Itinerary: Day by Day

We're staying at the Hilton Hotel Tahiti for the first three nights and the Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort for the final four, two of the finest properties in French Polynesia, in ideal locations for everything on our itinerary.

May 30 / Day 1 — Arrivals & Welcome Sunset Cocktails

Land in Papeete, settle in at the Hilton Hotel Tahiti, and join the group for a Welcome Sunset Cocktail and Appetizer Hour. This is where the trip begins in earnest, the first round of introductions, the first view of the water, the first exhale. Solo travelers walk into a room and walk out with a group.

Fly into Papeete's Faa'a International Airport (PPT). Most routes connect through Los Angeles (LAX) or San Francisco (SFO).

May 31 / Day 2 — Tahiti Island Tour

A full-day guided exploration of Tahiti's most spectacular sites: the Maraa Grotto, the black-sand Taharuu Beach, the dramatic Arahoho Blowhole, and the lush Faarumai Waterfalls, with lunch included. By the end of the day, you'll understand exactly why people fall in love with this island before they've even left it.

June 1 / Day 3 — Group Pool Meet Up + Catamaran Sunset Cruise

A relaxed morning by the pool at the Hilton Hotel Tahiti, then an evening aboard a sunset catamaran with drinks and appetizers included, and the Tahitian coastline glowing around you. This cruise is where the group dynamic shifts. By the time you're back on shore, everyone's dancing and no one's a stranger anymore.

June 2 / Day 4 — Transfer to Moorea + Polynesian Beach Dinner

Take the ferry to Moorea and check into the Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort, your home for the next four nights. Depending on your package, you're in a beach villa or a superior overwater bungalow with the lagoon directly beneath your floor. That evening: sunset cocktails followed by a full Polynesian Beach Dinner. The overwater views at golden hour alone are worth the flight.

June 3 / Day 5 — Moorea Miti Lagoon Cruise with Snorkeling

This is the day everyone talks about. A full lagoon cruise with local guides: snorkeling alongside sharks and manta rays, fresh ceviche made on board, coconut lessons, and the kind of laughter that makes your face hurt by afternoon. Lunch included. It's the kind of day where everything feels effortless and alive.

June 4 / Day 6 — Group Lagoon Meet Up + Optional Jet Ski Tour

A free-form day built around the lagoon, swimming, floating, being entirely present. For the adventurous: an optional jet ski tour is available as an add-on. For everyone else: the bungalow, the water, and nowhere to be.

June 5 / Day 7 — Optional ATV Tour + Polynesian Dinner Show

Explore Moorea's rugged interior on an optional ATV tour through the island's dramatic landscape. That evening, the entire group gathers for a Polynesian Dinner Show, with drumming, dancing, fire, and flavor. A send-off that burns into your memory.

June 6 / Day 8 — Departures

Breakfast, hugs, and goodbyes. You leave with a full heart, a group chat that will be active for years, and an entirely new definition of what a vacation can be.

Why French Polynesia Is a Solo Traveler's Secret Weapon

There's a quiet power in traveling somewhere extraordinary alone, and an even bigger one in doing it with a community of women who get you.

Most of our travelers come solo. And most of them will tell you that a group trip with Ladies Touch became one of the most connected experiences of their lives. Not despite coming alone, because of it.

When you arrive without a built-in companion, you're open. Open to the women across the dinner table. Open to the lagoon cruise conversations that turn into real friendships. Open to Moorea working its magic on you, personally, fully, without distraction.

French Polynesia rewards that openness in a way few destinations can. The pace is slow. The beauty is overwhelming. The people are warm. And when you're experiencing all of it alongside a curated group of LGBTQ women who are just as excited as you are? Something shifts.

Practical Information for LGBTQ Women Travelers

Getting there: Fly into Papeete's Faa'a International Airport (PPT). Most US travelers connect through Los Angeles (LAX) or San Francisco (SFO). Air Tahiti Nui and French Bee are the primary carriers on this route. Book flights early, late May/early June is increasingly popular.

Time zone: Tahiti Standard Time (TAHT) is 10 hours behind Eastern Time and does not observe daylight saving. Plan your flight arrival accordingly to make the Day 1 welcome event.

Entry requirements: US citizens do not need a visa for French Polynesia for stays under 90 days. A valid passport is required.

Language: French and Tahitian are the official languages, but English is widely spoken in tourist areas and hotels.

Currency: French Pacific Franc (XPF). Credit cards accepted at most hotels and restaurants.

Weather in late May/early June: Tahiti and Moorea are in their dry season, with temperatures around 80–85°F, lower humidity, and generally sunny skies. It's one of the best times to visit.

Safety: French Polynesia is considered safe for travelers, with low crime rates in tourist areas. The primary consideration for LGBTQ travelers is cultural context, public displays of affection are less common here than in dedicated LGBTQ destinations, but harassment is rare and the hospitality industry is exceptionally welcoming.

Why LGBTQ Women Choose to Experience French Polynesia With a Group

You could book French Polynesia solo. You could research which island to prioritize, find the right lagoon cruise, figure out the ferry schedule, figure out which properties are worth the price, and arrive hoping to connect with other queer women once you're there.

Or you could arrive on May 30, walk into a welcome cocktail hour surrounded by women who are already your people, and spend eight days exploring, laughing, and celebrating together with everything handled and a host on the ground.

Ladies Touch has spent 10+ years building the kind of travel experience you can't replicate with a booking site. We know how to create a group dynamic where solo travelers feel welcomed from the first evening, where couples feel celebrated, and where best friends find they've gained an entire community.

French Polynesia is a long flight. It deserves to be more than just a trip. This is how you make it unforgettable.
